"I hear and I forget... I see and I remember... I do and I understand..."At whatever age, there is something about that statement that really applies to dancing. Whether it's ballet, early creative movement, tap or jazz, - learning to dance is accomplished not by hearing or by seeing, but by doing.

Perhaps, it's simply another way of saying that a dance school should be student oriented. As young students at the dance school that would later become the Skagit Valley Academy of Dance, we learned just how important this concept is. And it has been a guiding principle for our dance academy ever since.

You see, we believe in the joy of dancing... in the self-satisfaction and the sheer pleasure of dance motion. Self-expression... discipline... self-esteem... poise... freedom... grace... strength... and, yes, fun - this is what dancing is all about.

We welcome the opportunity to share with you our own excitement and enthusiasm. At Skagit Valley Academy of Dance we believe that learning to dance is and should be, learning to love to dance.
